How to live a better life with Jeff Bezos' framework
Let’s look at Jeff Bezos, currently the richest man in the world. He’s the core example of what you can do in order to avoid regrets in life.
See, we often believe we have a lot to do and keep running into things to do constantly. But by the end of the day, we don't always feel satisfied.
Now, Jeff Bezos works with something called the Regret Minimization Framework. It’s the core reason he started Amazon (and we all know Amazon).
Here’s what most people don’t know: living a great life comes from making choices you will not regret later.
Or, to say it in other words: living a great life comes from taking the steps that bring the least regret later in life.
As Jeff Bezos was working his job before launching Amazon, he asked himself the question: Will I regret never going along with the internet becoming a huge thing in our society?
Which lead him to ask: if I am old and look back at my life, would I rather not do this or just go at it?
As we all know, this question is what ultimately lead him to be the richest man in the world.
So, since he’s the richest guy in the world, you’re not (and if you secretly are, send me a message and let’s be friends).
But that doesn’t mean you can’t use the same framework as Jeff uses. Which may look like it’s something that works on a grand scale only but is actually something that works on a much smaller scale.
Cause you can use this framework with the smaller decisions you make as well.
1. Ask yourself what the best option is with everything you do
If you get an invitation to a Friday night party but also want to read a book, it’s easy to just skip the book and go to the party. But the next day, you might actually regret this decision.
That book was going to be a life changer for you. It was better to spend 3 hours on reading it rather than spending 3 hours at that party.
These are the type of situations where you can use the Regret Minimization Framework.
Sure, it’s not a ‘should I start a company or not?’ situation but it will still lead to bigger things in life if you do the thing that you won’t regret.
2. Figure out what you love, you have a long time ahead

Let’s be real: no matter what age you are, life is a great journey to realize what you truly enjoy doing in life.
It’s a time that will go by fast.
But if I look around at the people that are older than me and are enjoying their lives, it has mainly to do with the fact that early on in life they figured out what they love to do.
Sure, Jeff Bezos just hit his 30s once he started Amazon. But during his early life and especially his 20s he picked up a lot of knowledge and figured out a lot of things that eventually led him to launch his company.
Which just shows that through your life it is extremely important to figure out what you truly want to do.
3. Pick up great habits that you can use for the rest of your life
One of Jeff Bezos’ greatest habits is that he chooses adventure over ease.
Which means you should do the things you are extremely excited about during your life.
If you pick up the habit to always go for the adventurous choice during today, you will do the same later in life.
But that’s not just it. You need a lot more habits. Such as reading, something Jeff Bezos already did during his 20s (no wonder Amazon first started as the biggest online bookstore).
Meditation is also a fantastic habit to put into your life, just as eating healthy food is. Another habit is to just do things right away, whether it’s doing the dishes or cleaning your room. If you put these habits in your life at an early age, you will have no issue to automatically perform these habits later in life.
In the end, just make sure you do what you enjoy
Nobody knows you better than you.
And you know that.
In life, you must find the path that you believe is the one you should be taking. Sometimes this isn't the path others envision for you, yet if you feel it's right, then do it.
Nobody can tell you what you will enjoy in life. They can give you a heads-up or a headstart, you're the only one that can truly figure it out.
So go out with that feeling every day. Make every day of your life a great adventure. For every day that you live an adventurous day, is just another day you can add to a life full of adventures.
