Keep Calm and Eat On (# 3)
Here is another post under my Keep Calm and Eat On Series, just to whine about the issues I am facing for my pregnancy. And, I thank you for listening ahead of time, if you are too kind to read on, lol.
My Issues
I am not sure how many pregnant women go through this, but I am trying to get out of a mental rut ... and it is I really really miss being fit, cute, active and free.
Of course, it does sound very superficial, doesn't it?! And, for goodness sake, I am carrying a baby, which is a condition that is envy by many childless women. Seriously, I do not mean to sound ungrateful.
However, my current physical condition is taking a toll on my self esteem. When I see the “large” girl in the mirror every day, I feel horrified. When there are so many clothes that don't fit me anymore, I feel frustrated. When I cannot do a lot of things anymore, I feel trapped. When my body feel pains and tired, I feel weak. The reality of it really affected my current sense of identity.
Well, not that I don’t have a stable sense of self in terms of my personality and core values. Actually I might have a little too much of that (if you ask my husband, lol). But in many aspects, I feel very lost.
Is it because of the hormone that makes me feel that way? Who knows! Seriously, I am trying hard to learn to accept the temporary me.
The Solutions
My husband has been very supportive and positive, which help me a great deal. There is no reason I have to go through this on my own.
Also, no pain no gain, I know 100% that it is all worth it and we are going to have a lot of fun as a family. So, I am reminding myself the temporary state is just temporary!
Keep Calm and Eat On
On that note, I tell myself to keep calm and eat on. I have a huge cravings for Chinese food throughout my pregnancy. Next week, I am going to have Dim Sum at my favourite Chinese restaurant, which I am really looking forward to. (Yummy, at least, food makes me happy!)
