Effective Ways To Treat Shoulder Pain

in #life7 years ago

Shoulder pain can mostly be an easy come easy go situation, but sometimes it can persist and cause real trouble. This is a variety of causes for a shoulder pain, sometimes really simple such as a muscle pull, using too much of your mobile phone or a long painting session, while at other times it could be an indication for a serious underlying health condition that shouldn’t be ignored. You might get shoulder pain due to an injury to the bone or muscle, or something more serious such as nerve damage, dislocation, inflammation or an underlying disease. In certain cases, the pain can be extended to the nearby neck and arm area due to pressure buildup on the nerves. Sometimes it could be a symptom of something very serious such as a heart attack, osteoporosis or rheumatoid arthritis.

If proper care and attention are not given, the condition can worsen with time. One really important thing to consider before opting for the treatment is to diagnose the cause of it, which can help you pick the right treatment and get effective results out of it. You might just have slept in the wrong position, however, if the pain occurs out of nowhere and remains for a longer period of time along with some other unusual symptoms, it’s highly recommended that you get yourself checked by a doctor.

Here are some of the most effective ways that can help you treat your shoulder pain and most probably get rid of it completely :

  • Rest your arm
The arm is connected to your shoulder and if the pain is related to the joint bone or the muscle, then you should give your arm a rest and avoid excessive exertion or lifting any kind of weights. You can do that by resting your elbow on your side.
  • Massaging
A warm and gentle oil massage can be a treatment of shoulder pain to swoon for. Don’t hesitate to massage through your neck and along both the shoulder muscles. Apart from reducing the pain, it can relax you and improve the blood flow to that area and the brain.
  • Stretching and stress relief
Stretching, flexing and exercising a little can be a great way to reduce the pain in that area. Sometimes a shoulder pain could be due to a neck problem, so make sure you gently exercise your shoulder as well as your neck. Pain could also be a result of consistent stress on the area, so try to relax your shoulder a bit, improve your position in which you sleep, avoid stressing the area by lifting anything, and improve your posture and neck position. It could probably be due to sitting on the chair for long hours or looking down into your cell phone screen for a long time.
  • Cold treatment
The icing is a great way to help relieve pain and inflammation. A technique used for treating shoulder pain is called ice compression, where you can use ice cubes and keep it on the aching area of your shoulder. It can be done multiple times throughout the day and it can help you effectively reduce the pain.
  • Compression
A compression technique can be used for pain relief as it puts equal pressure on the aching area and keeps the muscle and joint in a place to let it rest instead of moving. Limiting the movement can reduce further chances for the pain to grow and persist.
  • Warming technique
Warming up the area where it pains in combination with flexing exercising can help relieve the pain in your shoulder. Hot pads can be used for this purpose, or just like the cold compression technique you may use a bag of hot water and put it on the aching shoulder for a while.
  • Curcumin
Curcumin is a magical herb used in the form of powder. It’s also known as turmeric, and it can be used both topically and can be ingested as a medicine. Due to its amazing anti-oxidant and healing properties, it is a good way to reduce inflammation and pain.
  • Vinegar and Epsom
Apple cider vinegar and Epsom salt can be dissolved in hot water in a container to make a good remedy for shoulder pain. You may want to take a warm bath in this solution or simply dip the aching area in the solution for fifteen to twenty minutes. Significant pain relief can be experienced by using this treatment just 3 times. You can continue doing it if the pain persists.
