Hello!
Hi, I am aiming to try to post things once a week. I will talking about various things relating to trying to understand life. One unfortunate choices in my life was to study philosophy at university(I say this with a hint of sarcasm because I do have a love for it). I will talk about philosophy, ethics and religion. Philosophy has lead me to maybe overthink things in general. I will be struggling with problems that might not be for human beings to know or to understand.
Philosophy means the love of wisdom. Maybe you shouldn’t love wisdom too much as it could lead to overextending oneself and expecting too much from life and what one could know about it. However, there is a distinct human need in all of us for humility, humbleness and accepting of what we have. At the same time we all have a hunger for more.
I am trying to overcome the problems of life. But is life a problem that needs to be solved? Or is it a problem that needs to be lived! There are problems that will never be solved, we must experience the pains of life with respect, acceptance, and in reverence to life itself. Struggling to escape this genuine pain leads to suffering, and this suffering is the worst condition of all.
Perhaps it is this which is “Sin”. Sin as a state of disconnection referred to in the Jewish tradition. We cannot escape pain, when we try, it leads us to sin. But if we accept pain that is genuinely ours, we are able to bear pain in the grace of God. We are redeemed in our pitiful state. We are not alone.
So one piece of wisdom worth pursuing is trying to know the difference between what is worth struggling for and what is pain that needs to be loved and accepted: Richard Rohr’s “What is God trying to teach me in this moment?”
So I will be posting topics similar to this, regarding problems of life and philosophy.
