Uber Presents Targeted Design For Flight Taxis

The technology is making a drastic progress, that is out of question. Our generation already experienced a huge change and we got to see amazing machineries that took our breath away. From a flawless Facetime connection over to artificial intelligence. People are taking the technology to a whole nother level! Now Uber, the peer-to-peer ridesharing, food delivery, and transportation network company, presented the targeted design for flight taxis.

At the Elevate Conference in Los Angeles, Uber highlighted the supply concept for manufacturers of its future electric aircraft, which the travel agent plans to use in regular air taxi services from 2023 onwards. That is only a few years from now and I can not believe that we are going to have objects flying around which are used as transport vehicles. I have seen such things in many futuristic movies but it´s becoming reality very soon.

The showpiece is a kind of symbiosis of airplane and helicopter with four rotors for the lift and a fifth rotor at the rear for the propulsion. 

Flight taxis are to commute at a height of 300 to 600 meters and are initially controlled manually by a pilot on board. By first reading this information I was literally shocked. I already knew that they had planned to use these flying objects without humans controlling it from the inside. Then I found the next article which said that Uber is thinking about an autonomous aircraft fleet in the long run. 

Previously, the company specified that the air taxis should carry four passengers and fly up to 320 km / h.

Uber wants to build an urban transport network of electrically powered aircraft with its project called elevate. They are already planning to do test flights in Los Angeles, Dallas und Dubai starting in 2020! Only three years later, the service is scheduled to commence commercial operation. 

The partners include the helicopter manufacturer Bell and the aircraft manufacturer EmbraerX, as well as the Daimler-supported company ChargePoint, which is to supply the charging stations for the e-high-speed starters.

I have two different opinions about this topic. 

First of all, I think it´s a great idea to use the space that we have as a transportation way because people spend millions of hours on the streets everyday. Last year, an average resident of San Francisco spent nearly 230 hours on the way to work - that's half a million hours of productivity every day. But on the other hand, I am a big lover of nature and through this technology that people are developing, we are destroying our living space. 

When the last tree is cut down, the last fish eaten, and the last stream poisoned, you will realize that you cannot eat MONEY! I am totally living by this quote and I think it fits perfectly to this heading. People always want to be faster, bigger and higher. They strive for the impossible but sometimes faster, bigger and higher doesn´t always mean better...
