Language
While i generally don't care if one can speak English or not, it would be nice to know what people are saying. so if it where possible to have a program that did a background task of automatically translating any language that would be nice. like possibly make it part of web browsers.

There are already plugins for browsers that do that.
Of course, the problem is that the translation itself isn't that reliable.
I am aware of the plug-ins, but as you said they are not very good. though if it was a standard feature instead of a plug-in and made by a competent linguist and programmer. though its just a thought i wanted to put out there. there are a lot of things that prevent that i know.
