I recently managed to connect with my friends who are now about halfway through enjoying their holiday.
They are situated in the high snowy mountains, so there is not always a great connection, but of course a nice place to be if your looking to be in peace with nature and to enjoy the wonderful fresh clean air.

Regardless I discovered they seem to have what I think is a poor understanding of camouflage, even when I made my point across they didn't exactly agree with me haha😁.
Or maybe I have it wrong ❌ let's see.

My understanding of camouflage is it's a mostly a military technique used by either painting or covering ones selves with disguised nets, branches, bushes etc, to make them blend in with their surroundings.
And the point of that is to of course not be spotted by the enemy side, this can be done for people, weapons, specialist equipment and even vehicles.
The idea I believe came from animals who have long before humans used camouflage to blend in with their surrounding environment.
Animals use this technique to hunt by stalking their prey, while others use it for the opposite reason of avoiding being seen by any treat of predators.

So my understanding of it's meaning is to simply blend-in well with the surrounding environment.

Ever seen those pictures online or in children's books where we are tasked with finding a certain number of a particular animal or character? Normally the designers blend in well whatever it is we are looking for in the image.

The number 1 rule is of course you cant fully hide the thing we are looking for behind something else, because like this the task is simply flawed.

So my friends were taking beautiful picture's up in the snowy mountains and one of them "using the wrong color of camo" decided they were going to put it to the test in case of any treats.

They would supposedly blend into the environment while my task was to find them in the photos.

I'm usually decent at this game but was honestly not seeing them which is when I began to suspect trickery.

They sent me some videos to reveal their locations, funny thing is I had it right in the first place because I suspected if they were to hide anywhere it would be behind the biggest object like a tree, or rock.
However this was not "blending in with the environment" with camouflage it's simply just hiding behind something and taking a photo, and of course nobody on the receiving end is going to find what or who they are looking for.

However in a real dangerous or military situation their camouflaging was completely flawed, they brought up the concept of being good at hiding but that was also flawed if they are just hiding behind obvious things that are big enough to hide behind.
Like this they would have a hard time traversing the land to escape danger with less "than big enough" cover without proper use of camouflage.

I'm not claiming to be any expert on the topic of getting out-there and camouflaging ones self in the nature of the snowy peaks of these mountains, but god help them if the military landed nearby. However what I can say is that they could at least be more easily found by the search and rescue team if they got lost up there haha🚨👍😁.
