I think there was a huge interest in cats long before there was an Internet. The interest in cats is not created due to the internet, but it’s rather exploiting this interest that was already there! Biology plays a big role why humans love cats that much because of their appearance (big eyes, tiny pink noses, and dome-shaped heads). It some kind of triggers the evolutionary nurturing instincts that we have evolved towards human babies. Just adorably cute!
