Each Peach Pear Plum a book review.
Each Peach Pear Plum by Janet and Alan Ahlberg.
Before I get too far along let me just say this is my sons favorite book right now in fact our copy is slowly being destroyed by love.
If my son was to review this I'm pretty sure it would get 10/10 "READ THIS TO ME NOW!"'s as for me well he could have chosen much worse, after all, there are only so many times you can count the animals 1-10.
Review.
Each Peach Pear Plum is actually a great little book that introduces many fairytale characters with a rhyming story with the opening line Each peach pear plum I spy Tom Thumb.
Introducing Tom Thumb, Mother Hubbard, Cinderella, The Three Bears (a lot), The Wicked Witch, Baby Bunting, Bo Peep, Jack and Jill, Robin Hood.
On top of that, the illustrations are fantastic with plenty of other details in the scene to teach your little toddler about.
Never be for fatherhood to a little one did I ever think that I would worry about this next bit, the book is pretty durable hard covered with nice thick pages that can take a bit of bending, however, the glue at the spin of the pages just can't hold up to the little one eventually mating it fiddly to turn the pages.
Strange Message
It's odd looking at children's media so often without thinking about it the writers and producers make something with a message that is definitely not something to teach children.
Even Sesame Street looking back realized that many of its earlier episodes where not suitable for children without thinking they had references to drug dealers and the letter of the day "hey, kids you wanna buy some O's", and children wandering off with strangers, since then they have added an adults-only warning to those DVDs.
The Stars of Each Peach Pear Plum
The Three Bears feature the most in this book, let's have a look.
There is a name for staring into strangers windows and it's a crime
What the actual F! don't you dare look supprised Mumma and Pappa Bear you gave a child a god damned loaded gun
I know its all innocent but every time we get to those pages I make sure I tell my little one how irresponsible the bears are sure he gives me the look that means just shut up and turn the page dad.
Kind regards
Peter
I remember this book! And probably didn't even notice those bits so can totally understand the shut up and turn the page look XD but you'll feel so proud of him when he starts repeating those realisations back at you down the track XD
