My 14 y/o puppy

in #life7 years ago

This isn't meant to be a long, drawn out story about how I rescued my dog and he rescued me. It is meant to be a reminder that when adopting a dog, do not exclude any based on age.

Eddie, 14 years old going on 15, was severely abused and left for dead in a cage. Thankfully, he was found and we adopted him. Two years later, he still cowers at the sight of a hand coming near him to pet his head. If you get too close to his face with yours, he grumbles. Although these psychological scars will never go away, Eddie is an amazing dog who loves to be around us. He will sleep on your chest, legs, feet, etc. He loves to run outside and get rowdy. He enjoys begging for treats. He's a normal, happy dog.

His age and his past aren't attractive to most. But that doesn't mean he is any less of a fantastic dog and member of our family.

If you find a dog that seems like a perfect fit for you, don't count him or her out based on the fact that they are older or have had a rough life.

You won't regret it.
