Prepping for Reasonable, Sane, Responsible People

in #life8 years ago

If you see there's been an accident on the highway, do you look?

If you came upon a group of Police 👮 cars, all flashing their red & blues, would you be curious about what had happened?

As a species we are COMPELLED by disasters, not necessarily by choice, but by the virtue of our innate instinct for survival.

Employing our neocortex enables us to have contingencies in place should a disaster befall us.

Unleashing our id can make some of us build bunkers and get a class III Firearms license.

However far you want to take it, that's up to you.

If you believe we can be served by history and the helpful lessons taught in just the last 15 years,
Here's where to start:

MONEY

IMG_2628.jpg

Keep an emergency reserve of $200.
Whether in your wallet, in a cookie jar, or in a fire 🔥 proof safe, have 200 bucks on hand at ALL times.

Why?

Power goes out = no credit card transactions, no cheques will electronically clear, and no ATM's will be operational.
If you don't have cash, good luck.

SILVER

IMG_2631.jpg

Keep at a minimum a few ounces of silver on hand at all times.

Why?

They'll serve as an alternative to money if needed, no matter where you are in the world.

LOTS OF WATER

IMG_2632.jpg

An adult needs about 2 Liters of water per day.
Do the math for your household and keep a two week supply of H2O on hand for each person.

Why?

You need water to survive.

If your municipal water supply breaks down, is poisoned, or is otherwise compromised, you're covered!
Bonus:
Storing your water in your fridge and freezer will save money on your electric bill by reducing the air volume lost every time you open the door.

The frozen water in your freezer can be moved to your fridge, keeping the food there cool for hours, if not days, in case there's a blackout.

FOOD

You can get food buckets like these online.
Each of the big buckets will feed one adult 2000 calories a day for 30 days.

That fourth bucket on the top row is a 72 hour emergency kit feeding 4 people 2100 calories a day for a long weekend.

They all store neatly on the bottle shelf of a closet:

So there you have it!

Reasonable prepping measures to keep you panic free and well fed in case of a disaster.

If everyone in the world did this we would all be fine for at least two weeks; enough time to assess the scenario and determine the next move for you and your family.

I wish everyone the best; be prudent, be safe, and be GREAT!

Excellent Post. I hate storing a bunch of water so I have a gravity fed filtration system instead. which i use everyday too. If the taps run dry you can still find water in your hot water heater and toilets that you run though the filtration system. It's a good option if you don't want to store dozens of gallons of water.

Absolutely!
I've got a massive lake close by; if it comes down to it it's a water source I can access and filter if necessary (those 3 big buckets will serve that purpose if necessary).
Great suggestions on the water heater and the back of the toilets (folks, don't drink from the bowl)!
Apparently silver can be used as a bactericide for water as well; not researched but it MAY be an option.
THANK YOU for the comment!
😀👍

From the research I’ve done I would say Colloidal silver can be used to purify water. The ISS, Mir and WHO all list Colloidal silver as a disinfectant. Put this link in for you from Natural News:

Good reliable site and I love that they put all the links they site at the bottom of their articles. I guess it’s just about working out the level of silver to amount of water and that would have to factor in the concentration of the silver I think. Still, nice to know there is an alternative source for sustainable disinfectant. Also liked your article. Good prepping info is always helpful to everyone.

Cheers to you for the information!
I hope things never get to where we actually need to act on our preparing measures...

I know what you mean, but I fear one day it will be. Just the economy alone is not an IF but a WHEN on pure math. I'm afraid it's the old saying now.......Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

@ravensoul, you are 100% correct.
It WILL happen.
We just don't know when.
I'm prepared for the worst...
Get out of debt, load up on self-sustaining provisions, and have the means to protect you and your family.
And hope the Reckoning is so far away that our preparing wasn't necessary so early.
Sadly, I doubt that will be the case.

I pray everyday that its further off into that future. It's a race now between the fact that it all has to correct to fair market value as, Gregory Mannarino would say and by that I mean everything, and how long the elite can kick that can further down the road. Sometimes I'm amazed its been stretched out as long as it has. I dont want the crap to hit....none of us do.....but I dont see a way out now. Its all just gone too far to turn back and you can already start to see the edges beginning to fray

Hey @ravensoul , I'm following you now.
I encourage you to write a post about this that I can upvote 🤝.

Great information! Followed

Awesome, thanks 🤗
Compelling handle 😂
