Domestic Poisoning (How to prevent)
Prevention from Poisoning
We all keep somthing poisonous at home. No one can claim that their home is safe from toxic substance. We keep things in our house without knowing how harmful and deadly when accidentally ingested. Take for example the napthalene or moth balls. They repel insects and at the same time deodorize cabinets and other furnitures. But do you know that they can cause internal bleeding when taken orally?
Pain relieving liniments which are common household things is actually poisonous due to its methyl salycilate content.
Here are other products that may induce domestic poisoning: kerosene, insect repellant/spray, rat killer, mosquito coils, floor wax, paint, detergent, toilet bowl cleaner.
For safety at home check-out the following reminders:
1.)Read the label of the products you purchase - check for the poison sign (skull with crossed bones). Follow the necessary precautions and know what are the first aid measures to take in the event of ingestion.
2.) Keep highly-dangerous products out of children's reach.
3.) Be sure to keep the containers labeled. If you are to put a toxic substance in another container relabel the container so no one will make the mistake of drinking it or using it for a different purpose.
4.) Use only the right dosage. Just like taking medication observe the proper dosage and dose.
5.) If you are to use insecticide, spray directly to corners and affected areas. Don't spray upward and keep the windows open when spraying to avoid inhaling the insecticide.
