THE CHASE: SETTLING DOWN OR JUST SETTLING
The world today is so radical that the average Nigerian lady is so obsessed with thoughts of marriage and "settling down". She'll give varied reasons like "all my mates are married" or "the earlier the better" when in reality these are ideas implanted into their heads as a result of many influences ranging from unlimited exposure to romantic movies /novels, parental pressure, peer pressure and even wrong associations.
Most ladies crave for marriage without seeking for concrete information, advice or tutoring on what marriage is about - like what are its aims and objectives? what factors affect marriage? The effects of marriage on the individuals involved, pros and cons, not excluding its many benefits.
These ladies crave marriage so much that they are ready to go to any length just to get married, with some leading fake lives, some resort to charms/black magic,
and some would even go as far as to propose to the guy (laughs). All these are bound to lead to negative outcomes and it makes one wonder what the whole rush for marriage is about? Is marriage no longer built on the foundation of love, trust and companionship? Is marriage now the whole point of human existence? Is marriage now just a show or a base to build one's public reputation on? Is marriage now a means to make money?.
I'll love to end this with a quote from the wisest man ever known(King Solomon) who said "vanity upon vanity, all is vanity".
For so many next month Valentine's Day is gonna be lover's day,
but for me it's gonna be Champions League day.
