Day One: Streetlight Manifesto

Yesterday was the second day off my social media challenge. I'd write about the first day but it just included cleaning and reading Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology to my dog. Yesterday I broke twice, I posted once on Facebook and Instagram, the two social media accounts I seem to obsess over. I posted about a show that night. Streetlight Manifesto. I wanted to see which friends I would run into. I browsed my notifications, commented on a post of mine that had gotten out of hand in the comments, and lurked. I have found its incredibly difficult to stay off Facebook while I am pooping. Good thing I allow myself twitter, where I have a low following and don't spend much time on, but I could hear the sweet sound of Facebook share button. This is harder than I thought.

I went shopping before the show and bought a super cute outfit. I let my midriff show, I didn't wear a bra, and it was short sleeve. I bought a beautiful flower skirt that made me smile. This is not an outfit I normally feel confident in. The security guard at the dressing room seemed to think I made a good choice, after my fourth trip in the dressing room. Its hard for me to find clothes that fit and that I feel good in.

Once I got to the show I found it easy to stay off my phone besides taking photos and some selfies. I find taking selfies makes me feel a lot more comfortable with myself. I also can see myself in a way where I feel and look confident, fake it til you make it. But really its, keep trying until I figure this out.

The show was amazing. Streetlight Manifesto always puts on an energetic show. I met up with my one of my best friends, Emory, and it was such a wonderful evening meeting her friends and her friends, friends. I felt a lot more connected with my friends and new acquaintance's because I didn't have Facebook calling my name.

Streetlight Manifesto played for about 4 songs before I felt pain radiating from lower back, my legs were numb, and I could no longer stand. Probably the hardest part of my existence is my chronic back pain. Its just a constant fun blocker.

(short video I took)

Upset I couldn't stand I stepped outside on the patio. I could still see and hear them. I limped over to a chair near a friend of Emory's friends. He was very nice, for the life of me I can't recall his name. He offered to buy me a beer to help numb my lower back pain. No one has ever bought me a drink before, desperate to stop the pain I said "Yes please, thank you so much". I drank my Pabst beer and we talked about our jobs, our life interests, and our age. This man said he was a Hobbit and didn't age the same as humans, seems legit to me! I laughed at the fact he was almost double my age jumping around like he was a teen.

Overall it was a very good show, I had a blast, I felt amazing, and I looked adorable doing it!!! I enjoyed connecting with new people and avoiding my phone.
