Why travel changes our lives?
You, dear travelers, do you think that the journey transforms a life? I would assume that yes, that's what you think. Because when you come back from an adventure, you feel different: you feel stronger, you feel good, you feel confident and you feel especially alive. We see life in another way, and we try to transpose all the good things of our journey into our daily routine. It's normal, in my opinion. Traveling transforms a life, transforms our personality and the person we are. And here are just 7 things that change every day when we come back from a trip with our adorable backpack. 7 things that obviously change for the better!
1. The notion of life changes, drastically and completely
I could have written a complete article just on this point ... When you travel, the whole notion of life changes, and that's what I explain in my article "The trip is a bit like a mental illness ". In our homeland, we often take the little things of life for granted and we enter our imposed routine without realizing that life is not just for work. When traveling, we do not take anything for granted: we bite into life, we live the experience thoroughly! We start to watch the trees dance to the wind, to listen to the sound of the waves so relaxing, to appreciate the kindness of people, to taste the local flavors, to appreciate all the beauties of the region and to use our five senses to live the moment fully.
Traveling changes the notion we have of life, since we say that this ability to enjoy the moment when we are traveling must be transposed to our everyday life in our homeland. It is not only traveling that we can, and especially we must, live fully!
2. Spontaneity becomes something much easier
When traveling, it is often necessary to be spontaneous: we let ourselves be guided by the new people we meet, we decide to walk in a small alley that seems attractive, we get on a bus to nowhere and we land in a place that seems pretty ... Yes, for some, we plan our trip in terms of air transport and accommodation, but remains that spontaneity remains at the heart of our adventures. So when you come home, spontaneity has less secrets and becomes much easier. We do not let ourselves be shaken by unanticipated changes: we only live them!
3. The comfort zone takes on a whole new meaning
Going on a trip means going out of one's comfort zone. But like a quote I like, beautiful things happen almost all outside of our comfort zone. When we cross borders, we are confronted with another way of life, a barrier of languages (very often), different cultures, different ways of doing things, in short, a whole different way of life! We must adapt and use creativity, sometimes, to achieve our ends. If that's not it, get out of his comfort zone, so tell me what it is!
4. Meeting new people becomes one of the most beautiful activities
Traveling always makes meeting new people. Always always And it is also one of the greatest beauties of the trip, in my opinion. If you are traveling to a hostel, I am almost convinced that you are doing it for the low price, but also to meet other travelers who are a little in the same state of mind as you. So, it looks like when you come back to the country, you become a little more sociable, more smiling and more inclined to talk to people, right?
5. The notion of friend also takes on a whole new meaning
We know that people we meet on a trip are not real true friends who will stay with us for 20 years. But despite everything, he develops a bond with them that would not develop with our own friends, in our country. Traveling with new people means experiencing new experiences with them and sharing a bond of proximity and understanding that is not found anywhere else, with no one else. We're seeing the same things at the same time, and the discussions are so easy that we seem to have known each other for years, quite often. So, the notion of friend changes. And it's for the best! They are ephemeral friends, so to speak, but they are friends that will be remembered for a long time. Much more than our 200 Facebook friends who are never spoken to.
6. The notion of living the present moment is anchored in our blood and veins
As I said above, when you travel, you have no choice but to take advantage of the present moment (if not, why travel?). We appreciate what we see, what we feel, what we hear, what we taste, what we touch ... We appreciate the fact of being so far away, in a landscape so beautiful, while our friends and family are working and pulling weeds on their land. I exaggerate, but you see the kind? When traveling, we realize how lucky we are to be here at this moment. And it is by developing this ability to enjoy the present moment elsewhere that we are able to better appreciate this same moment at home. Appreciate the present moment, it is done on a trip, but also with us, and that's what the journey allows to learn, very often! What learning ... Probably one of the most beautiful that travel can bring!
7. What is most valuable to us are not objects anymore, but experiences
Again, I was talking about it in my article on "Why traveling is not an expense but an investment": when you travel, you value memories and experiences, not objects. We realize that wealth does not lie in our bank account, but in what we have lived and in what we expect to live in the future. So we plan our budget not based on the purchase of branded clothing, cars of the year or 5-star restaurants at $ 100 a plate that we will not remember in 10 years. We plan our budget to be able to travel again and again, to live experiences and create memories that we will remember all our lives. Real wealth is not material, it is a little what travel helps to teach us, too.
