The power of coincidence... or how I met the love of my life (part 1)
A coincidence is a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances which have no apparent causal connection with each other.
Wikipedia - The Free Encyclopedia
The word itself seems to be - pardon - the small coincidence to me: both English, Russian and Ukrainian terms have the same etymological sense - coincidence, sovpadeniye (rus), spivpadinnya (ukr) are derived from "together" "to fall on"/"to happen".
In my opinion, those events that unpredictably fall together into our lives are the reason why our life is so full of value. Try to recall the plot of Your favorite fiction book - would it be that interesting to read if You know how the story goes from the very beginning to the very end, without any plot twists, heroes' rash decisions or sudden occasions? Real life with no passionate mind-blowing stories to tell is just like the page in FBI archives - soulless, short and doomed for oblivion.
Here on steemit we are given the unique possibility to share the stories of our lives and save them into the blockchain, so that Your story will remain trully Yours and won't be sent to the abyss due to censorship or social network owner's decision.
But let's move on to the story I wanted to share
I met her at the birthday party of my good friend about three years ago.
I broke up with my previous girlfriend almost half a year before and was in some kind of a lazy search for the new short relationship with little obligations. As long as there were mainly s ole girls at the party I had enough to choose from: two girls who were very pretty to my taste and two more, who were OK as reserve option.
As a party slowly moved on and I was carefully conducting initial due diligence on chosen girls, the need to refill alcohol supplies and meet the guy who was late, arised.
I was the one who didn't mind walking a couple of blocks back and forth and helping the poor guy who couldn't find the place. To my surprise one of the girls (luckily, the very pretty one) opted to go with me because she knew the late guy and was able to help me in identifying him. But, hey, we both know, that the true reason was different, right?
While we were walking together mutual sympathy started to grow exponentially.
Everything went better than planned, and I immediately crossed out other girls on my short birthday party list. We were walking closer and closer to the shop, where we had to meet that guy, and was stepping closer and closer up to the point of no return, when You either act or lose the opportunity forever.
My opportunity seemed to be copletely lost: the guy who was late came "just in time". Moreover the girl was so damn happy to see him, that I was losing not only the opportunity, but my mind - I just didn't understand what was happening. Was she in some kind of relations with that dude? Was she his ex-girlfriend?
Why the heck she changed behavior so much? Was I mistaken all that time about her feelings? Was I really so blind?
Now, recalling that day, I do understand, that this moment was actually the game-changer in my attitude to her: I was searching for one-off or short-term relations without deep affection, but after the moment - I was falling in love.
Alas, You rarely know You're going into the trap until You're catched inside.
And who would call kissing a beautiful girl in the pool under warm summer sunset the trap? What I thought was my defeat wasn't even a minor setback - all of my above-mentioned questions were completely wrong due to overreaction.
OR maybe the small setback was made up thanks to several glasses of delicious red wine.
Touching her lips with mine, caressing her silky skin with my hands, leaning with our bodies pressed to each other towards the edge of the pool, I was mesmerized.
That girl...
Well, a coin has two sides - so does the wine.
Instead of wild and emotional continuation of pool process I got the sleepy body, who did shut down almost immediately as soon as I lost attention for a moment.
Nothing to do - I have some kind of moral code, after all - so I had to return to the party, which now lost all of its wonderful atmosphere. One of the girls, that caught my eye before, tried to make out with me seeing that there left no competition, but she was a bit too drunk, that instead we fell down together near the pool.
A little shocked I decided to check on the girl I left to sleep with a flash of hope, that she had awakened. Sadly, she wass still sleeping deeply. Reluctant to return to the party at its finish, I went to sleep too - on a nice cozy carpet near the bed (not that I had my moral code gone so far - the girl had simply overtaken the major part of the bed and I didn't want to squash into the bed; moreover I actually prefered to sleep on the floor that time).
So I fall asleep to greet in the morning what I thought to be the most magnificent relashionship in my life. God, how wrong I was..
