In this regard, parents, who have grown accustomed to a different approach from childhood, raise a lot of questions, since this method does not involve phonemic learning of words.

Which method to choose
Do not go to extremes. It is not necessary to read very long by some rules - the child should understand that there are many exceptions in English and they will still have to be learned by heart, knowing how they look and how they are pronounced. Also, it is not necessary to give only a whole image of the word, without going into details of why the letters are read this way, and not otherwise.

The visualization method is more efficient to apply to exception words, especially when the alphabetic period is running - children are still learning the alphabet and can memorize many frequently used vocabulary without losing time on the rules. But at the same time, you need to give some alphabetic-phonetic analysis, so that the child does not confuse the words in the future. This can be done using certain tasks, for example, insert missing letters into words. Here the child will already allocate letters, that is, divide the words, not perceiving them as the whole picture.
