Stop Watching the News. . Here's Why

in #life7 years ago

There are numerous reasons why we all should just flat out stop watching the news.

@rawdawg made a decision a while back to consume as little news as possible.

It was the best decision he has ever made for numerous different reasons. But quite frankly, his mindset improved, he has felt more alive than he has in years, and he didn't seem to miss anything "important" in the process of news abstinence.

Here are various reasons why you can do without the news:

-- The news misleads and is slanted.

-- The news is truly not relevant to your life. Over the last 6 months have you consumed any news that has actually allowed you to make a better decision about anything serious affecting your life.

--News is harmful to your body and causes stress. Panic in the body is actually terrible for the immune system.

--News feeds confirmation bias. Enough said.

--News is an intentional disruption system of critical thinking. News is meant to prevent you from thinking and investigating for yourself.

--News is a waste of time. Plain and simple.

--The news causes us to be pessimistic, desensitized, sarcastic, and fatalistic. You become passive because of the news as you are constantly drilled with things you cannot act upon.

--News prevents creativity from flowing through us naturally. Just go talk to your news-junkie neighbor.

@rawdawg is going on 2 years with very little news.

You will surely see how addicted you are to the news once you try to stop watching for a week or two. There will be an internal feeling in your stomach pulling you towards the drama. Don't give in to the addiction, it is well worth it Steemians. . .Trust the @rawdawg!

Peace!

i try not to watch any news to the best of my ability

majority of news sources are state propaganda machines designed to brainwash the common folk

Agree 100% hence my "misleads and slanted" mention.

Obama passed a propaganda law in 2012, All MSM is propaganda!

You will not find disagreement from @rawdawg

agreed 100% ...when I got rid of the television I felt much better and it is accumulating over time..

Yup. No news is good news.Haven't had a TV since 2008 and stay away from the "news" sites. Just memes for me yesirree. :)

Its actually kind of tough at first to quit. . Our minds have been trained to be addicted to the drama. But once you break free, ah the freedom. :)

The amount of crucial news on any given site is next to nil. If the nukes start flying, I can just look out my window.
