Living Things versus Non-Living Things

Life refers to the capability of an organism which involves moving and the ability to grow while dead is the lack of life.

Today, we will elaborate the difference between living things and non-living things. We know that under the circumference of life we have us, humans, animals and plants including microorganisms that are able to perform life. We can distinguish their differences to non-living things through:
1.Structure.

Living things have wide characteristics when it comes to form and size. A group of animals are noticably similar when it comes to their build but differ in ways. For example, A mother and an offspring cat. You can tell to them that they have the same species since they possess the characteristics of a cat ; they only differ with their color,eyes,height,behaviour and etc. They are arranged as definite individuals. Non-living things are indefinite. They are abstractly formed and they differ widely. One example is a rock. There are many kinds of rock yet they don't have a definite structure with the other rocks.
2.Organization.

Living things are made up of systems. Cells are combined into systems that exhibit life. Humans move by themselves because of these systems. The important needs of ours inorder to move depends upon what our body consumes. Most common among animals is the predation.

The ecosystem involves food chain and for larger consumption sums up to a great food web. The energy that came from the food they digest recombine chemical elements that living things need. We then perform growth. It is with the development of the parts or the changing of physical system. Living things grow and mature. We exhibit what we call internal growth or intussusception.

We are able for metabolism that performs vital life processes such as all the changes that the objects taken as food undergoes. Anabolism is our building up phase and catabolism is our breaking down phase. We are also able to reproduce and defined our ability to create another one of the same species. Non-living things move with the help of an external force. They do grow but doesn't involve the process that living things normally do. Accretion is an example of their growth wherein they are developed physically through the environmental bond with the other materials that are present in their surroundings. There is a definite quantitative relationship between the changes of the environment and the reaction of non-living things to it. Metal expands due to force and of heat. Unfortunately, non-living things do not reproduce. If you ask why they are so many of them, some are chemically and naturally produced and some of them are form the intervention of men.
3.Irritability.

Living things respond to their stimuli. This reaction takes place when a network of an impulse of the system corresponds to the action that should be produced. For example, A Venus-flytrap don't have senses as humans have but it knows when to trap a prey when it comes over to its mouth. That is the typical reaction produced. On the other hand, non-living things are altered by the environmental changes.
