Spring awakening 🌸 🌷 🌹

in #life5 years ago

"To be able to experience spring in nature is a pleasure for all five senses."

After a very changeable winter, the time has finally come: spring is coming across the country. The shrubs put on their bright green leaves, the fruit trees start to bloom, the birds start chirping again. It seems our country is breathing new life.

In many parts of Austria, spring is already showing up, at least on some days, and tickling us out of hibernation.

Jumping squirrels and hard-working ants awaken the forest from deep hibernation. The hum of the bees and the chirping of the songbirds returning home offer an incomparable background noise and make the silence of the winter months forgotten.

Anyone who owns a garden during this difficult corona virus period can really count themselves lucky and I am one of these lucky people, I am fine, I have enough food and wonderful pets.

Lonicera fragrantissima: the fragrant honeysuckle, also fragrant honeysuckle, winter honeysuckle or winter honeysuckle is a species of the honeysuckle family. It originally occurs in China, but is widely used as an ornamental plant beyond its natural occurrence.

The ornamental quinces (Chaenomeles), also known as mock quinces, belong to the rose family and are native to East Asia. In their growth, the shape of the flowers and the intensity of their colors, they always remind of their Far Eastern home.
Ornamental quinces are very expansive, thorn-reinforced shrubs that bloom profusely on the one hand, and on the other hand produce very pretty, apple-like, about five centimeters large, edible fruits. They reach growth widths of around two meters and growth heights of up to five meters.

The blood plum 'Nigra' delights with its dark red, shiny leaves and dark brown-red to blackish bark. In spring, countless small, pink colored flowers cover the densely growing branches. They form before the leaves are sprouted or at the same time. This striking coloring of light and dark red, brown and pink tones distinguishes the (bot.) Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra'.
