Is Keto the Same as the Atkins Diet?

I had literally tried every diet. I would lose weight with all or I would only lose so much, then stay stagnant and never lose what I needed to. It would always come back and became harder to lose. Keto solved this problem.

No. The Ketogenic diet differs in that it requires a completely different approach and view. It isn't all meat and cheese and your skinny. No real lifestyle change can happen. Eating all meat isn't good either. The Keto diet follows a 70% fat, 25% protein and 5% carb outline. Carbs should come from veggies and allowed fruit. Never from grains and refined carbohydrates.

(Every body is different, so of course consult with a physician prior to starting any diet change.)

When a person consumes carbohydrates, the body signals insulin/glucose production. Since glucose is the body's; first choice for fuel naturally. Your then body stores fat while it runs on the glucose you produce for fuel. This would be great but we very rarely work for our food. Since our dear President Eisenhower's heart attack, society has view fat as an enemy. If we only knew,

Our country then started to lean towards a diet low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates. The passed 50 plus years have seen a rise in an epidemic proportion of Americans suffering from some form of diabetes.

By starving the body of refined complex carbohydrates( which are all man made junk), you force the body to go into a metabolic state called, Ketosis.

Ketosis is a metabolic state in which your body chooses fat as its' fuel burning source.

How is this different than the Atkins program?

The Ketogenic diet follows that fat/protein/carb, 70/25/5% Ratio. This diet is high fat and not high protein. consuming 10 cups of dark organic green and purple leaved salad, ensures your body the ability to process the fat you eat properly. This is just one of the many resources available online for referencing. So basically choose vegetables that are low end of the Glycemic index.. According to Dr. Axe's website, the glycemic index food chart shows us that , broccoli should be chosen over carrots. Finding the amount of fat grams your required to eat, is simple with an online calculator.

How do you know when your body is in Ketosis?

your liver starts to excrete any fat, (which is amazing for people who have mild cirrhosis of the liver), and ketones are released in the urine. You can find these strips to test your urine almost anywhere, Walmart. Your body usually converts to Ketosis in around 4 to 6 weeks.

Who benefits from a Kentogenic lifesylte?
