@polebird: 🎉 WOO HOO! Celebrating a happy pole day! 🎉
I was conditioning handsprings at the end of my home pole practice yesterday and this exciting thing happened! I really couldn’t believe it – this was a back bendy variation that I had seen in the past on Instagram videos, but put aside as something not within reach (I didn't even put it on my pole goal list!). I guess for some strange reason, I was feeling brave! In this variation of the handspring, you arch your back and bend backwards while maintaining balance similar to the scorpion back bend in yoga. This is not usually a variation of handspring that I work on because the back bending in the air with no support kind of scares me and both your back and arm/shoulder muscles have to be actively engaged to balance at this angle. I’ve tried it once about a month ago with my friend Krista spotting me.

Once I realized that this scorpion handspring was within reach, I went for it and did it a bunch of times! Practice makes progress, right? For today’s video – NO, that is not the same video a bunch of times, it shows me drilling this move over and over. If you watch carefully, you will see the progression – first my hair up, then my hair down, and then being able to get a slightly deeper backbend and a longer scorpion hold. After I finished, I thought of popping the scorpion back into the regular straddle and trying to iron x down, but I was too tired to do anymore – maybe next time!
I’m wondering if all the iron x conditioning and back exercises I’ve been adding into my weekly pole life helped me with this move, or if it was the sudden gust of courage I gathered up. I guess there’s no way to tell.
One thing for sure though is that pole and progress makes you feel like super woman! :D
Thanks for watching and sharing this notable moment in my pole journey my lovely steemians! I'm definitely celebrating tonight with a glass of wine!

wow this is so cool. I've been wanting to try pole fitness/ dancing like 5 years ago, but I am so weak :( maybe someday. cool blog!
Ahh you should try! No one starts out that strong in pole, well maybe a few people but for the most part all the strength is built up! It’s so much fun to spin around, but it definitely makes you so much stronger as well - another plus 😉
It would be nice watching pole dance in person haha.
Wow!! That is gruesome practice. I really admire your skills in performing such an awesome stuff. Pole performance runs in your blood. Thumbs up Girls!
You are indeed a super woman...
Aww thank you so much for the kind words!! :D Yeah, kind of got overly excited when I initially realized I could do and just kept drilling it over and over haha
I always get mad when (old) women call it slutty because they are jealous and can't even respect the athletic accomplishment
oh I'm so sorry to hear you experienced that first hand! I've actually never had any older women tell me that, and we have awesome people of all ages in class... pole really does require a lot of athletic stamina to be built up!!!
Awesome! I would fall flat if i tried this xD
Hehehhe thank you! I was hoping not to do that either on the initial try 😲
you are incredible. like it!!!! keep it going!
thank you so much - and of course! :D

Awesome! Congratulations, that is an impressive victory!! I love the feeling of taking those leaps; the more I have, either when I was climbing a new problem on the indoor wall or deciding to start working for myself rather than a company, I found that if I was successful, that made me feel proud of reaching a new height (sometimes quite literally). And when I don't reach my goal, I see the progress and I keep chipping away at it because I know I'm on my way. Excited to see you meet your next goal!
aww thank you!! It is a nice feeling... haha any progress is always good! Gives much hope :D
I like u r post .... i follow u @resteem
Nicely done... always glad to see fitness posts on steemit, especially since this is not the typical fitness we see nowadays, or at least it isn't in my country...
I would try to do the same but I know i'm not able to do it, i got to much mass on me, can't even do the normal human flag on a pole.
heheh thank you :) Yeah it's only starting to go more main stream nowadays, but I would still say pole fitness is still not widely known about. But I do think it's cool, from what I can see in instagram there are quite a lot of countries growing more and more into it - plus it got named as a sport this last year :D
