Free Choice is Yours!
Holiday season and the beaches are packed here in Cape Town, South Africa!
Today I want to talk about our free choices in life. Not free as far as payments are concerned, but rather that we are free to make any choices in life. Choices aimed at self improvement and also our financial standings. Choices about our next holiday destination and a variety of other choices.
Now with the approach of the new year 2020, many of us will make a list to present our choices for the year to ourselves. They call this list our new year resolutions and normally it is aimed at self improvement. We are all in different situations and the only thing that we all have in common is our ability to make free choices!
Some of us choose to spend our time out of season on deserted beaches!
Yet others choose the crowds and the revelry on the beaches!
Yet others choose early morning strolls with only the sea and the birds in sight!
Some of use choose watersports like kite surfing!
Again, others choose to go on a helicopter flip!
We can even choose on which airline we want to fly!
So, I trust that I have shown you just a smidgen of the choices that are available to us.
Like I said before, there is a myriad of choices that any of us can take at any time.
But now, here's a question?
What about those that have run out of choices?
An example here;
He uses his walker to carry his meager belongings.
The only choice that he has is to try and stay alive. There are thousands of them across the world and over here they normally sleep under bridges or near rivers. Almost every traffic light has one or two of them standing with boards pleading for help.
They have no choices, as there is no work and they survive from hand to mouth. Some of them even have families to feed.
And so I plead with you, in the drawing up of your new year resolutions, PLEASE think about setting something aside for the poor.
If you are too busy, simply support the charities in your neighborhood.
The least that we all can do is to help those that cannot help themselves, be it man, woman or child.
Think about it, as we can all make a change!
Note: Charities like Papillon find it very difficult to survive, especially in these times and their work is so essential in the communities. A great thank you to each of the special souls that support them.

The very least one who does have can do is help another. Poverty is a stark reality today with lack of employment, the New World - 4th Revolution will make it harder for many more not having education to secure a positive meaningful life.

Sad and tough Lady Joan, for them and for us at the charities. The world teaches self importance and supporters are few an far between. The last time that I looked some 300 charities closed their doors in a year and we at Papillon have only survived by grace.
It's tough going, but I am not complaining as we are used to it.
Just hope and pray is the way.
May you guys have a good 2020 and it's a weird coincidence that Marian and I will also be 20 years in the charity fields!
Blessings!
Twenty years is a long time, congratulations on achievement, much experience gained, always so much more to do.
Thank you Lady Joan, still waiting for the real purpose to be revealed as to our coming down here.
But in the meantime we simply do what we've always done.
Blessings!
I think education and also the lack of it is slowly destroying any hope that the people might have for the future my friend.
And where there is no hope, there is anarchy.
Such is life as history shows.
Thank you for the tip.
Blessings!
No newyears resolutions like the doet ones for me, just the smile of someone after he or she is helped like i want to be helped when its needed thats the goal oh and 10000 steem offcourse hahah
Oh yes, no amount of money can compare with the thankful smiles and sometimes tears my friend.
I think 50000 steem will be more like it Lol
Blessings!

It really is incredible that we throw away enough food to feed the world. Here in the US we currently have high employment and a poverty rate over 10%, which is crazy. We as a society need to find a more equitable solution.
A sad situation my friend.
Have a look at this and you will better understand the situations that we are working in.
"The youth aged 15–24 years are the most vulnerable in the South African labour market as the unemployment rate among this age group was 55,2% in the 1st quarter of 2019. Among graduates in this age group, the unemployment rate was 31,0% during this period compared to 19,5% in the 4th quarter of 2018 – an increase of 11,4 percentage points quarter-on-quarter. However, the graduate unemployment rate is still lower than the rate among those with other educational levels, meaning that education is still the key to these young people’s prospects improving in the South African labour market".
Taken from Stats SA and I intent using this in a year end post about Papillon's achievements!
