Thank you for that thoughtful post. We have been trained to disregard the messages our wise bodies give us, and put our faith instead into expensive and toxic medical tests.
I've recently had the pleasures and challenges of one of my loved ones in the hospital. I could go on and on about how my medical experiences relate to this article, but I think a poem about it says part of it very well.
A Necessary Evil
Time passes slowly
in a hospital room,
waiting for the next dose
and wishing for the moon.
Everything is toxic!
The drips, the air, the food.
Take your care into your own hands,
and they take you for a goon.
Discharge day is a mixed blessing,
there's so much to do - no fun!
But first up on the list to do
is undoing the damage done.
Thank you and well said. Did you write that poem? Either way, I love it. I can definitely relate from my experiences with the medical industry. Hope your loved one heals soon~
Thank you, and yes it's mine. I recently returned from staying with my son in the hospital. I won't leave him there alone, and we refuse a lot. This visit they tried injecting blood thinners just in case, and he has absolutely no history of problems with his heart, veins, arteries or blood! Unbelievable how far away they are from respecting the powers of our own bodies. But as you discussed, it's always a learning experience, because there are allies there and they do know a thing or two.
