I GOT MY PARENTS FITNESS CLUB MEMBERSHIP FOR THE NEW YEAR

in #life6 years ago (edited)

I guess it's a difficult thing for any child to witness their parents age and become less healthy and more frail. Chronic pains, obesity, lack of daily motion can all accompany elder age.

In my family, for example, obesity and cardio-vascular health issues have been an especially difficult challenges to face. So this holiday season I decided to do something different. My parents, who have never had a gym membership in their entire lives, are getting their first fitness club (appropriately named "First Fitness") membership cards as this year's New Year presents.

Yesterday we went there together for the first time. I showed them some cardio machines (as seen on the photo below) and they were learning to use them (rather awkwardly, at first), while I went to lift some weights. Then we took a swim in the pool, which was very nice and relaxing. Afterwards my dad and I sat in a sauna for a while, which was even more relaxing than the swim.

My hope it that they will use their cards regularly and continue going to the club to exercise a few times a week, even after I have gone back to Sweden.

What presents have you got your family for Christmas / Hanukkah / New Year this year? Please share in the comments below!

Great gift and even better that you joined them! I am sure they will appreciate the benefits from its use.

Your mum looks pretty happy about it, your dad a little less so! But that's a pretty interesting and useful gift!,

That's a wonderful and practical gift, you are such an awesome son and am sure your parents appreciate it. Hopefully they will keep using the gym. You know lack of movement is a major cause of disease. Exercise keeps the blood and lymphatic system flowing smoothly.
I got my loved ones mostly a card and items of clothing. But you got me thinking 😁👍

Thank you, friend! I knew that practical Eric would appreciate a practical gift! ;)

You parents look like nice folks.
Membership is a fun idea.

It's good that you care so much about your parents.

Спасибо за отзыв! :)

So thoughtful of you @oleg326756...

Thank you, Hermann! By the way, I'm working on a course paper with a classmate from Cameroon. She's the sweetest!

Wow that's nice to know Oleg.

That's a great choice for presents. Let's hope they will continue to use their membership. :-)
