Alexandra’s dilemma

Episode 1 (the story of the stormy night)

It was a stormy night at around 45 minutes past 10 when a persistent knock was heard on the door of Thydricks orphanage. Father Francis the orphanage’s head keeper quickly went to check who was at the door due to the persistent knocking, he was also accompanied by sister Theodore. When they opened the door, they found no one there except a little child wrapped in white cloths and kept inside a basket. Father Francis looked around but found no one while sister Theodore quickly took the child inside. The baby was a pretty baby girl and she was named Alexandra.
As sister Theodore ended her story of how Alex was seen at the orphanage's door, tears rolled down Alex’s eyes in a rush like she has been holding them for a very long time. Alex could not believe her ears, how could her parents be so callous and wicked to the extent of dumping her in the front of an orphanage home, she could not understand what was going on, her mind was not in its normal shape, she was thinking of many things but she could not just figure out what really happened.

12 years old Alex, good-looking, with a deep blue eye, a nice shape, a long curly shiny brown hair, her pink lips, and little cheek that’s always smiling at any time, anywhere, and at any condition. She was someone everyone would like to be with. But now it was clear to Alex that she is now an n orphan, all hopes of her parents coming to take her one day was now lost.
Throughout that night she could not sleep, she kept on thinking and asking herself so many questions. She wondered what type of material was used in making her parent’s heart, why they were so stony-hearted, why they were so wicked, and why she was so unlucky. She did not seem to have any clue of why her parents had dumped her in front of an orphanage at that odd hour of the day, what if there was no answer from the orphanage home, what if something bad had happened to her that night, all this thought kept on ringing in her mind. What had inspired her parents to do so, did they not think about it, why did they make such a rash and irresponsible decision, did they hate her so much to the extent of dumping her during that odd and dangerous time of the day, or was she an unwanted child that they thought of disposing her that way to avoid killing her. She could not stop thinking, she wished it was all a dream, but it was not, it was all real. She wished she could turn the hands of the clock so she could beg her parents to keep her with them.

It was morning already and the children kept on greeting sister Theodore and father Francis as they came out for breakfast. Then Alex realized it was morning already but could not get enough sleep at night due to what was going on in her mind.
Breakfast was ready and the orphanage cooks had finished serving everybody but Alex was not still out when sister Theodore found out that Alex was not yet on the dining, sister Theodore rushed to Alex room to find her lying on the bed. “Alex, is anything the matter?”
“Nothing, just that I could not get enough sleep last night”
“Are you sure?”
“Very well sister Theodore thanks for your concern.”
After breakfast, Alex went to see sister Theodore to ask her more questions about her coming to the orphanage. But sister Theodore could not answer any of her questions. Alex was sad and thought of a solution to her life.
The best thing she thought was to run away from the orphanage home.
