Will Smith tells the incredible story of how he became 'The Prince of Rap'
Through a video on his YouTube account, popular actor Will Smith revealed that the main reason he became The Prince of Rap was that he was financially broke.
Before being known for his talent for acting, Will Smith broke into the star system as a very promising singer. However, after a debut album that gave him the recognition of Triple Platinum, the second album was a total disappointment, so he could not continue paying his bills because he had given a life of luxury impossible to afford:
We made a lot of money, we achieved a triple platinum. I bought motorcycles and cars. Once I called Gucci from Atlanta and asked if they could close the store for me and my friends. It makes me laugh, but that was stupid. The issue is that we released a second album and it was a disaster.
However, everything changed when his girlfriend at the time motivated him to go to the Arsenio Hall Show, where he would meet Benny Medina, the true Prince of Rap, this would present him to Quincy Jones and together they gave him the necessary push to join the show that would be broadcast by NBC during six successful seasons between 1990 and 1996. The rest is history.
