The four ways of looking at ourselves
Many times we argue about the same things but from different perspectives. We say the same things but with different words. We mean the same vision but see it from different angles. So there are 4 ways of looking at ourselves that we must be aware of.
1 - Things we see about ourselves that others cannot.
This is one of the instances where marching to the beat of our own drum and not listening to others pays off the most. There are some deep intuitions and facts we know from the memories of our bodies and mind that only we can hear. Only we can see and only we can feel. This cannot be compromised.
2 - Things others see in us that we cannot.
The ego is a funny thing. It makes us believe we are something we aren't. This is when we need to listen to others to see where our ignorance can harm us and immediately use the view from the other to save ourselves. We are too into ourselves to actually go out and view the ourselves from the outside. Even an out of body experience won't solve it. That's why we have others to tell us.
3 - Things both other and we can see in us.
Once a mutual agreement is formed over an opinion of us from the outside with our consent, then we know it's a confirmation.
4 - Things neither the outsider or we can see.
Nature is as dark and mysterious as it is light and fluffy. It might be hard for the scientific mind to agree because of its knowledgable ego but it's true that we'll never know certain things in life.
Differentiating which one is which is of-course a life long observational lesson. It takes a lot of thinking, analysis, surrender, silence to be able to know which is the best for us at what situation. The challenge is life! Good luck exploring!
Hello, @mysticzealight I liked your article but I feel confused about the 4th way of viewing ourselves!
If no one knows(people around us and ourselves), how we can view ourselves from that aspect?
Is the 4th way, when we never figure out some traits of our personalities or that we stay confused forever and never get to meet our best self?
Through meditation and observation there is a possibility of knowing yourself fully, once the ego is removed entirely. However there are things outside us we can never know. Like how everything came into existence, How your memory gets transported from life to life. (DNA). Details of the actually chemistry between you and someone else and what triggers it? Why love and ego happen or exist? etc etc...
