The Great Blue Heron of North America
Thanks for following along! This is a stunning picture of a Great blue heron captured in its natural habitat at one of my favorite County parks.
This magnificent bird stands 46" tall and has a 72" wingspan. It relies on standing (salt or fresh) water ponds and lakes for its food source and nesting needs. Due to the Blue herons variety in diet, it has faired better than most other standing water birds in North America.
