Dealing with a break up - Moving on

in #life8 years ago

Many of us have been there, heart broken , left wondering where we went wrong in our relationships. At the time it can feel like the end of the world. Especially when it was long term.
All those life plans made with your significant other, The arguments about what you would name your kids, how many pets you'd have, all of it comes crashing down around when you realise; None of it's going to happen.

These were the first things I thought of when we broke up and I still think of them now. Straight after the end of the relationship I was bitter, I felt that I had just wasted all those years of my life on this girl, every good thing I did for her went through my head along with all the negative things she did. This turned me into a very bitter person for a short time, so much so that my family had trouble dealing with me.

Not long after this though, something clicked in my head, I was looking at it all wrong. I didn't just waste years of my life, I just gained invaluable knowledge that will lead me on to successful relationships in the future. As soon as I started thinking this, my whole outlook on the situation changed, I stopped being so hateful towards her and we have had several civilised conversations since.

Another way I've gotten over the sadness is by indulging in hobbies and keeping myself busy. As it just so happens, Steemit came along at the Perfect time. Since last week I've been on here non-stop, trying to find topics to post about, gradually creating better content and generally enjoying my time writing. Its rekindled a love for writing which I thought I had lost years ago.
In times like these though, no matter how well you think you are coping, Its always important to remember there are people there for you. This is a great time to get more involved with your families activities, you no longer have to focus on your relationship because you're free. As soon as my Mum heard about the decision for us to break up she made it clear she was there to help, even through my initial bad mood swings she reassured me that life goes on.

Thanks for reading my blog/general insight into getting over relationships, I hope this helps someone out there to deal with a bad situation.

Thanks for the kind words mike! I have no plans on stopping any time soon, especially when there's such a great community here for me to be part of.
