AT THE CROSS ROADS OF IDENTITY

Who are we? A simple question that will bring a flurry of answers. It is very ironic that we can say who people are but when it comes to us, we become more confused and speechless than the words themselves. We all dream of a time when life was rosy and golden, where the world was black and white and not this quagmire that we now find ourselves in.
I wonder infinitely where our sense of individuality has gone. The age long self identity is all but vanished. I look down at the society from my perch in the mental stratosphere and see almost everyone trying to fit in when we were all born to stand out. I have seen great individuals make a mockery of themselves and great minds looked down upon.
When we conform to the society’s standard we lose our uniqueness and walk the path that the society deems acceptable. But it shouldn’t be so; the society tries to make you conform because they cannot handle the uniqueness of YOUR INCREDIBLE MIND.
You may wonder what your identity is. Your identity is the one and only thing that makes you different from me, it is the hallmark of the human mind. We are human beings and all have imperfections so to speak of, our identities have faults too; but that is what makes us mundane.
Change is constant and that’s a fact. There is no way to measure the change or to know the speed, the truth is, we are not who we were five years ago and thus our identities have change. Are your parents, friends, colleagues, comfortable with it? That is their problem.
When you are feeling lost or depressed, sad or angry about who you are or who you are becoming ,look around smile and just have the mindset : am unique and let the world watch as I blaze my own path. Aren’t you tired of thinking about what people think about you every moment of the day? Aren’t you tired of trying to please your friends with ridiculous compromises? Aren’t you tired of always justifying your actions to people that can’t and will never understand the first thing about you?
So I say, take your identity that you have been suppressing for so long to the drycleaner’s, launder It and wear it like the expensive suit it is and struts with all the swagger you’ve got and tell anyone who’s got a problem with it to SHOVE IT!!!!!!!
So it is the moment of truth; Are YOU gonna let society conform you or are YOU gonna decide who you wanna become? Tick tock, clock is ticking……WHAT IS IT GONNA BE?????
