How will my children remember me?
It is a dilemma of any OFW or those working overseas and is far away from the children. One of the most heart wrenching moment for a parent is when you return home and your child appears to have forgotten who you are or is afraid of you.
No parent want to be in this position. But sometimes opportunity knocks and some choose to live or work far away so their family can have better lives and options.
Let us not be left out in this position.
What are the ways to keep your children feeling loved so they can not forget you?
Here are some tips:
- Use modern technology. Facebook, Facetime, Yahoo Messenger, Viber etc.
- Leave pictures at home and tell the children's caregiver to remind them always about you.
- Leave some good memories when you are home so your children can remember and and be reminded on how much you love them.
- Spend some time to talk to your children when you have the opportunity.
- Leave personal messages such as letters, personal messages, notes etc.
- Give a gift on occasions even when you are not personally there.
- Pray for the Lord to guide you always so you can be a better
parent to your children.
