Meaningless Goals

A teacher had a dog which to sit by the road pavements waiting for cars to come around.

As soon as any car came he would run down the road, barking and trying to outrun it.

One mourning, a neighbor asked the teacher "Do you think your dog is ever going to outrun a car

"That is not what bothers me. What bothers me is what he would do if he ever outran one." replied the teacher

Most people in reality behave like that dog who is pursuing meaningless goals.

Life is hard by the mile,
but by the yard,
it's a cinch.
