The power of being yourself.

in #life7 years ago

The chances are you have looked in at least one mirror today, you have a shave, or you combed your hair or maybe you have checked your teeth for spinach after lunch. But what you did not know is that the face looking back at you is not the face that everybody else sees. It is a kind of reversed, distorted, back-to-front image.
When you are looking into a regular mirror, you look for reassurance, you look for reassurance that you look beautiful, or you are young, or tidy, or your bum does not look big in that. But when you look into a True Mirror, you don't look at yourself, you look for yourself. You look for revelation, not reassurance.

When you look at remarkable individuals you will find the fact that you will have in common - it that they have nothing in common. These are people, who you know, works in many fields we work in. This are the individuals who've managed to figure out the unique ghift that the universe gave them when they have born.
I think that we all come complete. We come complete with one true note we were destined to sing, and these are the people that have managed to figure that out. It doesn't dictate your choice of the job; what is dictates is who you do it.
Life is large and most of us don't take up nearly the space the universe intended for us. We take up this wee space around our toes witch is why when you see somebody in the full flow of their humanity is remarkable.

The individuality really is all it's cracked up to be. In fact, people who are frightened to be themselves will work for those who aren't afraid. Our job while we are on the planet is to be as good at being you.

One of the simplest and the most complicated question you will ever ask is " WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? " In fact, this is the question that's been looking for you your whole life. How manny times in your life somebody offered you that well-meaning piece of advice that YOU SHOULD BE JUST YOURSELF. How many times have you said to somebody else? What an easier thing to do.

When it comes to being yourself, when it comes to being in the word, the minute you showed up, the minute you were born, you were given a life sentence and you will do not know how long you will have.. maybe you will go 72 years and I will go 68. We have no idea how long we have. Although, where you are born, when you are born and all this things have a certain influence or impact on how you become who you become.

If you were born in Switzerland, chances are that you have been long time to figure this shit out.

What do you expect from life?
What does life expect from you?

Those are the most interesting questions.

The two places in life where you are awesome at being yourself, you are fantastic at being yourself,

1.When you are a kid

You are fantastic at being yourself because you don't know how to disguise your differentness. That's why you see kids on the beach, naked until the age of five and then suddenly, at the age of six or seven they want a bathing suit, they want a bikini.
Society archetype emerges around about the age of five, six, seven, eight - the birth of consciousness, and from then on you become more self-conscious and by default more less good at being yourself.

  1. When you are wrinkly.

Because you can't be arsed. You get to that stage in your life when you realize there are more summers behind you than there are in front of you and everything intensifies. You become more honest, less compromising. So, you are going to tell people "I don't want the spinach, I am not going to eat it. I don't like it"
We call this person "eccentric", we call our oldies "eccentric". But in fact, what they are doing is being authentic.

The most visible "you" that you represent outside word is what everybody else thinks of you. there are as many options for you as there as people. Like a UBS stick and we plug into the world. You show up on the desktop of the world and that is the power of context. Being yourself can be an ill-advice strategy and it is important to understand perception.
The need to be liked, the need for approbation or recognition, or for somebody to tell you it's okay.
When it comes to being yourself, needing other people's approval, loving somebody else's opinion and mistaking it for your own represent the most debilitating things you will do it on the road at being yourself. You will never, ever be perception-less. In is important to be perception free.

Gandhi said "my life is my message"
And your life is your message, too. Your life has to be your message, otherwise, why are you here?
It is not like you have got a spare. So, when you think about your identity, when you think about what it means to be alive. When you think about why you deserve to exist... You know your thoughts because you think them. And you can't be your feeling because otherwise, who's the YOU that feels them?

You are not what you have.
You are not what you do.
You are not even what you love or who loves you.

There has to be something underneath all that.

When you look at people who have managed to transcend all the judgments that we put upon them.
When you ere born without many of the attributes that some of your peers may have, even when you are born in a way that may leed you to feel impotent. If you can tap into that voice, into that inner-voice you might just end up being extraordinary.
When you will dial into the personal pronoun you will never feel superfluous again.

Your post reminds me of Luigi Pirandello, the Nobel price in literature. He wrote "One , no one and hundred thousands" book in which he talks about the many masks that we have and put on in the different situations and the many people we meet everyday!

Tnx for your reply, @alketcecaj. I have been inspired from one of my fav. book The Unbound Soul by Richard Haight and Ghandi's Heath Guide.
I did not read Luigi Pirandello but is on my list now.

It is not an easy read I warn you :-) but if you read it , maybe it will teach you some more things !

@alketcecaj, I am always open to learning.

Yeap, that's why they call it life long learning!

Great, I'm looking forward to your next posts!
