Looking forward

in #life6 years ago (edited)

New year’s eve comes with traditions. Like the fireworks and me forgetting it is the new year’s eve and that couple of seconds of “wtf is that noise out there..” when the kids start the bombardment early. That and i guess contemplating on past year is a good one too.

It's not even from today...

For me 2018 was meant to be the year of balance, but a lot of the time I ended up feeling even more off the rails than the previous year. Perhaps it was more like the last skips of a stone that was cast over the lake, just being more frequent with the impacts. Anyway, it was a mighty throw and it ended up inspired many works of art, including my best solo exhibition so far. I am looking to give a better dissection of the show sometime soon i hope, as it was part of the conditions I set for myself for it to be completely successful.

Actually a surprising amount of art was made last year, though not so much at the studio. Instead i did some good things with paint. I couldn't quite finish this one this year.. unless i attack it now. probably not.

We also had a great exhibition with my art group Hydra and good bunch of other artists at the Voipaala art center.

One more highlight of last year involved a tattoo, a couple of them actually. It’s another sweet story turned sour that I will have to address on a later post. No, I didn't get another one...

A lot of energy went just into grinding at the office with the artist association business - I definitely need to be more effective with all stuff.

Beside that there are number of areas I need to work on next year; beginning with maybe the not so common resolution of trying to be more considerate with my generosity in al things. But to keep with the traditions, I’m intending to drop some weight and manage my money better overall. With that I should be able to put out more art and be more active in general, posting more and so on. Also I intend to drink more whisky.

It's a new thing

So here's to 2018, the year of balance.. few lines from the Gray Jedi Code:

There is no peace without a passion to create
There is no passion without peace to guide

So, what shall you be year 2019?
I am afraid to call it anything, so let's call it the year of courage. How it stings..

Happy New Year!

Sort:

Happy new year! 2018 was great, but 2019 will be even better for courageous artists. You are always a great inspiration. Keep it up!

Thank you, let's hope so. happy new year!

You have a beautiful talent. I can not think of ever a time someone said to drink more whiskey. I like that!

"There is no peace without a passion to create - There is no passion without peace to guide" I have to print this sentence from the Jedi Code and place it on my corner work. As you know, I love your works and its's nice to watch this post with some of your pieces (I'd like to doodle something like your office doodle!!!). About whisky, I had my "whisky" time when I was younger, just a bit of Lagavulin or Oban and I remeber that time like a relaxing time in peace with my thoughts ;)

Thank you Silvia. Apparently the Gray Jedi are not "canon" but whatever, i like the idea :) It is all about changing habits and extreme attitudes, I just had my first Lagavulin at a bar before christmas and had good moment there exploring it.

Balance is always good. And firstly Amazing artworks, and I see that you love to express in many styles. As you saw, my resolution this year is a bit more focus in my expression, which will be interesting to see how it turns out.

The form and shapes in the beginning of that biro drawing is amazing and intense, I can't wait to see more of that.

I made last year a notion to change eating/exercise habits. It wasn't really a 'resolution' as I save that for art because I'm more likely to follow those and less likely to fail at it, the diet/exercise I just sort of did for myself quietly and told no one until people started to say, "wow you look thinner" which was of course a great boost to go forward.

Good luck and the best resolution is probably the Whisky, that'll be an easy one to stick to, eh?

Thank you Donna. Ballpoint pen is an interesting medium that might in a way make sense for me to pursuit more "seriously" also. It's a tickling thought. We'll see, but i'm pretty sure there will be more doodles at the office anyway. The dieting part is going to be tough as the work stress starts to buildup but i'm just trying to be vary of it. For the whisky the hard part will be acquiring the good stuff but i will try ;) Cheers!
