Among everything I read on the Internet, I understand by social network to any online platform where we interact with people we know through publications in which we show our tastes and our day to day to those who know us, and so they can know that we are doing or the course of our lives.

Taking into account the previous explanation, the answer is YES, Steemit is a social network, not as big or important as those that are more commercial, but in constant growth and capable of revolutionizing them because they are the first designed in Blockchain.

Social networks such as Facebook and Instagram were designed to share what is being done through multimedia content, sometimes showing the world how "happy" we are, when perhaps reality may be different. They have created stigmas and patterns within them that say what content to publish and what not, always looking to have a number of likes that can fill the egos of those who publish.

On the other hand, it has been demonstrated that Twitter was created to share news and issue opinions about topics that are trend at a certain moment; and although there are users who share topics of interest, I think that 160 characters could be felt as censorship for what is really meant.

I do not seek to speak badly about these platforms just because I mentioned some of their defects, much less to say that Steemit is better; I try to say that what other social networks lack, is what surpasses Steemit and its users; I refer to the diversity of deep, critical, analytical and not superficial thoughts. Well here instead of publishing what we ate or the walk we gave, we describe the experiences beyond an image, so it is given an added value and we know more thoroughly what the publisher feels and we feel how he can reach be able to influence other people.

Steemit is an example of where we should advance as users, as members of a society that lives more connected every day.
