Great article @tranceblackman you have delved into the dark realms of the hooman condition and how fear effects us on multiple levels.
Everything we perceive to feel has a purpose in our existence, for instance pain is quite unpleasant to feel , however it is an indicator that there is an issue which must be rectified. an example would be sitting to close to a fire and feeling the burning sensation indicates that we should move further from the flame.
Fear can be a utilized in a number of ways in the hooman condition, as a deterrent from danger, as a motivator to avoid adverse effects and much more. Where fear is an issue, like many conditions, is when it gets out of hand and is no longer a balanced part of our lives. When fear becomes and irrational part of our lives it can express itself in unhealthy ways, such as phobias which by definition is an irrational fear of something.
Phobias can be debilitating to those suffering from them and are at one end of the extreme on the scale of fear, where it prevents us from being able to do anything, at the other extreme is a lack of fear , leading us to take much higher risks than necessary. Higher risk taking behavior can be associated with problematic gambling, higher rates to car accin=dents and much more.
what we see in these examples is that at both ends of the extremes fear is an issue for decision making and human interaction. What we strive to achieve is equilibrium , a balance of fear which is healthy to the day to day existence of an individual.
