वीणओ सासणमूल विणीयो संजओ भवे: ।
विणायाउ विप्पमुक्कस्स कुओ धम्मो कुओ तवो ।।

विनय भाव मनुष्य जीवन का एक अमूल्य गुण है । जिस व्यक्ति के ह्रदय में विनय का भाव रहता है वह एक-एक कर सभी प्रकार की विद्याओं को सीखता है तथा उसके गुणों का भण्डार भरता चला जाता है । इसके विपरीत जो व्यक्ति अविनयी होता है उसकी विद्याओं का शनैः - शनैः लोप होता चला जाता है तथा एक दिन वह सर्वथा निर्गुण बन जाता है । उसके ह्रदय में शेष रहता है केवल दम्भ, अहंकार और पाखण्ड जो कि उसके चरित्र को तथा जीवन को नष्ट कर देता है ।

मनुष्य यदि विद्यावान हो, अथवा यदि वह ग्रहण करना चाहता हो, तो उसे सबसे पहले विनयगुण को अपने जीवन में उतारना चाहिए । क्योंकि विद्या की शोभा विनय से ही होती है तथा विद्या उसी स्थान पर निवास भी करती है जहां विनय हो । इसीलिए शास्त्रों में कहा गया है –

“विद्या विनयेन शोभते ।”

विद्या की शोभा विनय से होती है ।

विनय एक ऐसा गुण है जो सभी को अपनी ओर आकृष्ट कर लेता है । योग्यता चाहे कम हो, ज्ञान चाहे अल्प हो, किन्तु यदि विनय भरपूर हो तो ज्ञान प्राप्त करने में समय नहीं लगता है ।

विणएण णऐ, गधेण, चंदण, सोमयाई रयणियऐ ।
महुरइ सेणं अभयं जनप्पियतं लहइ भुवणे ।।

अथार्त – जिस प्रकार सुगन्धि के कारण चन्दन, सौम्यता के कारण चन्द्रमा तथा मधुरता के कारण अमृत लोक में प्रिय है उसी प्रकार विनय के कारण मनुष्य भी प्रिय बन जाता है ।

विनयवान व्यक्ति के सबके लिए प्रिय होने का मूल कारण उसकी वाणी की मधुरता होती है । ऐसा व्यक्ति सदैव मधुर वाणी ही बोलता है, कभी अप्रिय कटु अथवा ह्रदय को दुःख दे ऐसी वाणी उसके मुख से नहीं निकलती । यह तो सभी जानते हैं कि वचन में विलक्षण शक्ति होती है । यदि हमारे वचन प्रिय हैं, सत्य हैं, प्रेरणादायी हैं तो उनका प्रभाव सुनने वाले पर बिजली की गति से होता है । अत: विनयवान व्यक्ति को अपनी वाणी की इस शक्ति का पूर्ण उपयोग करना चाहिए ।

पशुओं में भी अनुभूति की शक्ति है । जीभ उन्हें भी प्राप्त हुई है । किन्तु वाणी की शक्ति तो केवल मनुष्य को ही प्राप्त है । मनुष्य का कर्तव्य है कि वह परम विनीत भाव से अपनी इस शक्ति का पूर्ण सदुपयोग करे ।

वाणी तो एक ही है । दुर्जन, अभिमानी व्यक्ति भी वाही भाषा बोलता है और सज्जन विनयी मनुष्य भी वाही भाषा बोलता है । किन्तु एक की वाणी अभिष्टकारी तथा दुसरे की अनिष्टकारी होती है । एक की वाणी कटु एवं कठोर होती है, तथा दुसरे की प्रिय एवं मधुर । इस अन्तर को जानना चाहिए एवं अपनी वाणी शक्ति से स्वयं अपना तथा लोक का कल्याण करना चाहिए ।

विनयशील व्यक्ति का उद्देश्य होता है स्वयं का तथा अन्य व्यक्तियों का हितसाधन करना । अपनी मधुर वाणी के प्रभाव से ऐसा व्यक्ति मनुष्यों को, उनके टूटे हुए हृदयों को जोड़ने का कार्य बड़ी सरलता से कर सकता है । अन्यथा अविनयपूर्वक कटु वाणी बोलने से मनुष्यों के ह्रदय को तोड़ा भी जा सकता है । मधुर शब्दों में अपने भाव अभिव्यक्त करके हम दुसरों का सम्मान भी कर सकते हैं तथा स्वयं भी सम्मानित हो सकते हैं, जबकि अविनय का प्रदर्शन करके हम दूसरों का भी अपमान करते हैं तथा स्वयं भी मुर्ख सिद्ध होते हैं । अत: जो ज्ञानी पुरुष हैं, जो विनय के महत्त्व को जानते हैं, वे वाणी का संयम सदैव धारण करते हैं ।

अपने पूज्य के प्रति अखण्ड विनय भाव का दृष्टान्त महाबली हनुमान के चरित्र से स्पष्टत:देखने को मिलता है । हनुमान के शरीर में बल का भण्डार था । कोई भी ऐसा कार्य नहीं था जिसे हनुमान न कर सकते हों । आर्य भूमि से लंका तक जाने का प्रश्न जब उपस्थित हुआ तब सबकी दृष्टि हनुमान पर गई । हनुमान के अतिरिक्त इतने विस्तृत समुंद्र का संतरण और कौन करे ?

जहाँ तक हनुमान का प्रश्न था वे एक समुंद्र क्या, संसार के सभी समुंद्र पार कर सकते थे । किन्तु धन्य है उनके विनय को कि उन्होंने कहा – “मुझ में समुंद्र को लांघने की शक्ति कहां है ? हां, यदि राम की कृपा हो जाए, उनका आशीर्वाद यदि मुझे प्राप्त हो जाए तो अवश्य ही मैं लंका में पहुँच सकता हूँ ।”

हम सभी जानते है कि हनुमान जी लंका गए, उन्होंने समुंद्र को लांघ डाला । उनमे इतनी शक्ति थी । किन्तु स्वयं हनुमान तो अतुल बलशाली होने पर भी सम्पूर्ण रूप से राम के प्रति समर्पित थे और विनय की उनके ह्रदय में पराकाष्ठा थी । इसी विनय के प्रभाव से उनका बल कभी क्षीण नहीं हुआ तथा उत्तरोत्तर वृद्धि को ही प्राप्त होता गया ।

Modesty is a priceless quality of human life. The person who has a sense of humility in the heart learns all the types of teachings one by one and goes to fill the stock of his properties. On the other hand, the person who becomes indecisive, his teachings disappear gradually and one day he becomes absolutely Nirguna. The remaining remains in his heart, only the forerunner, ego and hypocrisy, which destroys his character and life.

If a man is a teacher, or if he wants to take it, then he should first take Vinayagun into his life. Because the beauty of Vidya is only by modesty, and lore also resides in the place where there is modestness. That is why the scriptures say -

"Vidya Vinyan looks like."

The splendor of learning comes from modesty.

Modesty is a virtue that attracts all to everyone. Whether the qualifications are low, the knowledge is short, but if the modest is enough then it does not take time to get the knowledge.

In other words, because of the sweetness of the moon due to sweetness, because of the moon and sweetness, the nectar is dear to the people; in the same way, man becomes dear because of modesty.

The reason for the modest person being dear to everyone is the sweetness of his voice. Such a person always speaks a sweet voice, never to speak of unpleasant bitter or heart sorrow, such a voice does not come out of his mouth. Everyone knows that the promise has immense power. If our words are dear, are true, inspirational, then they are influenced by the speed of lightning. Therefore, the modest person should make full use of this power of his voice.

There is also the power of sensation in animals. The tongue has also received them. But the power of speech is only available to humans. It is the duty of a man to use his power fully with utmost sincerity.

The voice is the same. Deceitful, arrogant person also speaks the same language, and the gentleman humble man speaks the same language. But one's voice is evil, and the other is evil. The speech of one is bitter and harsh, and the other is dear and sweet. It is necessary to know this difference and to do good and to the welfare of the people with our own voice.

The purpose of the modest person is to promote self and other people. With the effect of their sweet words, such a person can do the task of connecting humans with their broken hearts with great ease. Otherwise, unnecessarily speaking bitter words, the heart of human beings can be broken. By expressing our feelings in sweet words, we can also respect others and can be honored by ourselves, while displaying indecision, we insult others and prove ourselves foolish too. Therefore, those who are knowledgeable men, who know the importance of modesty, they always hold the patience of speech.

The parable of Akhand Vinay Bhavana is clearly seen from the character of Mahabali Hanuman towards his worship. Hanuman had a stock of force in his body. There was no such thing that Hanuman could not do. When the question of going from Arya to Lanka to Lanka came when everyone's sight went to Hanuman. Apart from Hanuman, who else to move such a vast ocean?

As far as Hanuman's question was, what a seashore could cross all the seas in the world. But blessed is their modesty that they said - "Where is the power to cross the sea in me? Yes, if Ram gets the grace, if I receive his blessings, then I can definitely reach Lanka. "

We all know that Hanuman ji went to Lanka, he crossed the sea. They had so much power. But Hanuman himself was completely devoted to Ram, even though Atul was powerful, and modesty was his peak in his heart. With the influence of this modesty, his force never weakened and progressive growth was achieved.
