A Heavy Burden To Bear

Finding a space in a quiet little cafe, I sat with my doppio machiatto and picked up my phone. With a well calloused thumb, I opened up Steemit and threw myself in.

I noticed some nonsense crypto shilling post at the top of my feed from two hours ago. It was the usual nonsense - we are all pioneers! ... crypto will spell the end for the banks!! ... Blockchain will end poverty!!

I shook my head and with a wry chuckle swiped down on my screen to refresh my feed.

My feed obligingly refreshed and something very peculiar struck me.

That same crypto shilling post was still at the top!??

That can't be right? I know things have gotten a little slow lately and also that I have been pruning the wankage from my follow list but no new posts from the several hundred I do follow? In TWO HOURS!?

Not even a resteem?

Frantically, I hopped over to the new posts feed. Aside from the odd automated actifit money grab, there hadn't been anything worthy of note for the last two hours.

I put my phone down and pursed my lips.

So it has come to this.

I said in a handsome and gravelly way.

My voice echoed back and forth and I was relieved there were no ladies nearby. Such a voice as mine can easily render a lady temporarily pregnant.

I snapped myself back to attention.

I knew this day would come.

I intoned in an even deeper and heroic uttering.

At that moment the barista materialised and deposited a small plate of something something caramelised goats cheese before me.

I tipped my head in a curt nod and made a murmuring that could have been mistaken for thank you except it wasn't.

I allowed him a moment to disappear and then stroked my chin.

I had been preparing for this moment. Oh yes.

What value has a social platform if there isn't anyone posting?

If there is no content then why would you use the platform?

Would you go into a shop with nothing on the shelves? Well, perhaps a knocking shop but that is a different kettle of fish.

I knew the answer to all of the above and the answer was a hard one. A hard one but a necessary one.

It was time to step up.

It was time for me to start producing ALL of the content for the blockchain.

I would relieve everyone of the burden of vying for their share of the rewards pool by offering myself, selflessly, as the sole provider of content on the platform.

Admittedly I would also be the sole recipient of the rewards pool but I think that is also a burden I could bear for all of you.

Yes, perhaps I would have to up my game and post a little more to match the current chain activity but I am pretty sure I could knock out six or seven posts a day.

I would have to, should I make this sacrifice for all of you, my fellow steemians.

And I will.

So I say to you all...

Take a break.

Come back in a couple of months (mind put me on your auto voter)

I promise to take care of this dear platform and by the time you return we will be back to greatness.
