Intellectuals are the dumbest people in society (no, really)
Intellectuals are some of the dumbest, and most dangerous, people in society. An intellect that isn't guided by the moral virtues of the heart is one of the most destructive forces in the universe. When the intellect strays too far from the heart, man will commit atrocities - history is littered with examples.
The intellect was responsible for the human experimentation programs in Nazi Germany, the nuclear detonations on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the ongoing subjugation and torture of animals in the animal agriculture business.
True intelligence is the marriage of both head and heart, of intellect and empathy. Use them both wisely, and stop putting so many misguided intellectuals (politicians, scientists, and professors) on a pedestal.
I, wholeheartedly, agree with this: An intellect that isn't guided by the moral virtues of the heart is one of the most destructive forces in the universe.
There's a terrific book on this subject, The Reckless Mind: Intellectuals in Politics that might interest you. Cheers, Yahia
Thanks for the recommendation; I'll check it out, man.
Hope you enjoy it 🙏🏼
Another one that I need to check out in this same vein (at least from the sounds of it) is Political Ponerology by Andrew Lobaczewski, even though it's rumoured to be a 'difficult' read I would love to get my hands on a copy.
It sounds dark... Then, again, we are talking about the problem of evil, here, and what human beings are capable of when without a moral compass.
Intelligence is such an overrated concept. Having a high IQ doesn't mean much if you are completely detached from reality.
Funny that you would put someone with an atheist t-shirt; these people are usually the worst offenders. Most of those I've (most likely) correctly see that God doesn't exist. But sadly, they now devote this former religious fervor to government. And they completely refuse facts going against their socialism worship.
Finally, intelligence goes way beyond IQ. Despite "only" having high school education and a nursing class (not sure about the exact training), my mother made a very honorable living and is now retired. My younger brother - my polar opposite - found his way about much wandering, pressured to go to college and such. In the end, he took a class in restauration and seems to be happy.
In this manner, intelligence is knowing how to put your talents to their best use, even if it means not being a PhD in one-legged, one-eyed, blue-haired feminist LatinX studies
