Setting up a home in Adelaide
It’s moving day!
The day has finally arrived.
After a very average sleep on a blow up mattress in the freezing cold while I attempted to get the fresh paint smell out of my house with all windows open, today is the day where the furniture finally arrives at my new home.
Renting in Adelaide has been great. It’s allowed us to re-familiarise ourselves with the city and decide on a suburb to live in. But renting has always prevented me from feeling like I have an actual home. So I am incredibly excited to be living in a home that I own once again. It actually feels like a home. And I can do whatever improvements to the house that I like without needing to seek permission.
The house is still empty as I write this. And, given that I am an interstate traveller and have to isolate while not working, there’s not a lot that I can do to help pack up the rental. I’m simply here in my empty house doing minor repairs and maintenance jobs while I wait for boxes and furniture to arrive.
We live close to the Adelaide Hills now. Which is fantastic. I now have places close to home where I can do wildlife photography and mountain biking. I have been neglecting these two hobbies for a few years now.

To say that these are exciting times for my wife and I is a massive understatement. Which is a little conflicting with the global pandemic and economic uncertainty that we are all dealing with.
I’m looking forward to making some proper contributions to this community in the future.
Have a great weekend!
