in #life7 years ago

Hi There.

Dear Steemians... Today, March 22, we are celebrating the World Water Day, that vital liquid that is so essential to live.

Did you know...

That of 1,424 Million cubic kilometers of water in the earth, 2.5% is fresh water suitable for human consumption, that 70% of fresh water is frozen in glaciers and that 0.3% of fresh water is on the surface. The water is destined for its use in 25% for Industry, 10% for domestic use and 65% for agriculture.

More than 66% of the water destined for home use is used in the bathroom, each individual from your home, school or office can help make water a resource that meets the needs of all for many years.

The world population continues to grow and we must unite our efforts to take care of this essential resource, to become aware of it in order to make good use of it.

2,500 million of people do not have direct access to drinking water sources, 25 million people die every year from consuming water that is not suitable for human consumption. The same lack of water causes the death of 4,500 children per day according to OMS.

By evaporation a tree loses 265 liters of water per day, as well as one hectare of corn more than 30 thousand liters per day.

We must become aware and help other people too.

Below you can practice these simple tips to save water from home.

Close the sink faucet while soaping your hands, shaving or brushing your teeth. An open tap consumes up to 12 liters of water per minute!

Use a shower instead of a tub when bathing; close the shower while you soaping.

Collect the water from the shower in a bucket while it is cold and use it for the toilet or for your pots.

Do not use the toilet as a trash can! You will save 6 to 12 liters of water in each discharge.

Repair pipes and faucets that leak into kitchens and bathrooms. You will save a measure of 170 liters of water per month.

When washing the dishes close the key while lathering, rinse the crockery "in groups" (first all glasses, for example); so you take better advantage of the water. Try not to open the entire key to rinse the dishes.

When you use cooking oil, do not pour it into the drain, this contaminates tap water. You can use a bottle to store it and deposit it in the trash.

Use buckets with water to wash cars and sidewalks instead of using hose; You will also save up to 12 liters of water every minute.

Change the traditional toilets for ecological double load to use only the water you need and reduce the consumption of water by half (they are very cheap and easy to install).

In traditional toilets you can put one or two bottles of water inside the box to decrease the amount of each discharge.

Take advantage of rainwater to water your plants, mainly indoors.

Choose native plants for your garden, consume less water and give much less work than exotic plants, also attract butterflies and do not require the use of chemical products for maintenance.

Buy ecological appliances and always try to use them with full load.
Use the water left over from the jars of the meals and / or wash the vegetables to water the plants.

To wash your clothes and dishes use detergents and biodegradable products.

Do not consume bottled water, in addition to the large amount of plastic that leaves its consumption, water should not be considered private property. You can take your water from home.
