When less is more

Most of us always wants more. More money, more friends, more clothes, more fame, etc. It actually does make sense also from evolutionary perspective. There was a moment, when we realised, that if we find particularly big source of food, we do not have to eat it all at once, rather, it make sense to leave some for later. This concept is really useful. You minimise risk of being hungry next day by a lot, because if you don't find any food today, you can fall back on food recourse from day before.

If you fast-forward some thousands years from this point to the future and apply this principle to everything, you will end up with something like this:

Crazy right? What is the solution to this? Should we limit our-selfs across all domains, to have only certain amount of units needed for wellbeing in particular domain and nothing more?

Let me ask you different question. Is is bad to have more meaningful projects at this planet? Is it bad to have more meaningful friendships? More meaningful moments in our lives?

I don't think there is anything bad if we propose precisely that. I believe we should always aim for more. Because if we don't, how we can grow? BUT! It is really important to say that we should always aim for more things which actually matters!

See, we can do anything in this world. Anything really. Our imagination is the limit. This freedom is two-sided weapon though. Because if we can do anything, what we should do then?

And this question takes some time to answer.

See, I have a lot of ideas in my head. Most of the are crap. Some of them are actually good. The biggest challenge for me is to identify which one is which. And even if I do distinguish great idea from a bad one correctly, it is really hard for me to stick to that idea for extensive period of time and resist the temptation of other ideas which in most cases are worse than the original one.

So... what truly matters to you? Do you have the answer for that question? It is not bad at all to have more of that if it's truly meaningful. If it's not, throw it away. You will feel better, because you do not have to care about that thing anymore. The bonus is that you can use that spare brainpower for things which truly are meaningful.
