Rock painting rage taking over Wisconsin Rapids

So the latest craze in the small town which I live is rock painting and then placing the rocks around town for people to find. When you find these rocks, you can keep them or you can re-hide them. There is a Facebook page set up which was started June 29, 2017 and today there are already 2,865 members.

The type of rocks which are found look anything like a Skittle to a Minion, some have inspirational sayings and others have a coin for a free ice cream cone taped to the bottom. This latest rage is getting families out to rock-caching. Kids are having a blast. Families are not only searching and hiding together but all sitting down and putting their own artistic spin on these rocks.

Rocks have been found outside of the hospital for some who just found out they beat cancer – smile! A family from IL were vacationing in Wisconsin Dells and found one on their patio before leaving. The kids were going to take the one home which they found but before they left they found their own rock to paint and leave for someone else to find.

I have seen postings of people taking rocks to Denver, Phoenix, Cincinnati and other parts of the country. I even heard someone comment that a rock decorated with Green Bay Packers logo was found in Florida just recently.

This fun activity is creating joy, bonding families and is an inexpensive way to share your creativity. And below even made to highlight the Solar Eclipse 2017.
