Assert Yourself!
When I was much younger, I was always very curious about everything, I wanted to learn everything, do everything basically there's always been a strong desire to be versatile even till today. 
At some point in my life when i was a teenager, I really wanted people to notice me, I'd put in so much to get attention that I forgot "excellence" and when I didn't get it, I felt neglected & sad that it made me always frown (real bummer, almost cost me my cuteness...pheeeew), felt like I didn't belong any where, to any group/ clique and my social skills? Communication? They were real terrible so I couldn't really mingle much...
Now, I don't wanna waste your time talking all about me but I can assure you all that's different now, so...my point exactly is;
Don't fuss about people not giving you attention, do your thing, make it excellent, you got the element of surprise now, I consider that leverage so own it& take charge of your life!
It's time to grow above such things as inferiority complexes, depression, past failures& even your past victories (If they must be, let them be a source of motivation to reach out for more etc) and go for bigger& greater heights!
You need to understand that its in you to be happy, joy isn't external its within your spirit, just laugh it out, express it without a care and just be you, do you pal, the you I know isn't a sad person and the you I know doesn't need anything/ anyone to be happy(not saying their unimportant)...
Always remember, God's got you and if you have Him then you have all things!!!
