RE: LIVING IN A TRAILER

in #life6 years ago

We purchased our mobile home used for $4000, about seven years ago. As parents of a young child, and with modest income, we were sick and tired of paying such a large chunk of our money on rent! We lived in a trailer park for the first two years and paid lot rent ($300 per month--a third of the price of average rent in our area for a comparable home), and then moved the trailer onto our own property. We're now in the early stages of figuring out what kind of housing we'd like to do next. We're a bit tired of the trailer with its less sturdy building materials and weird space economy, and we're ready to move on to something different. But we are also very thankful that we were able to own the roof over our heads and save so much money while our daughter was little. It meant we could homeschool her, and spend more time together as a family, rather than always chasing dollars. I'd recommend buying a used mobile home to any young family just starting out, or any single person who would rather save their hard earned money than blow it on rent.

Amen to that! Very excellent advice!
