RE: Time is the ultimate illusion
I agree that time is largely an illusion. I think that time is a product of memory and it only appears to be linear because of memory. Without a memory, I don't think that humans would be able to perceive time but instead we would be forced to live in the ever present "now." Maybe that would be a good thing?
On the other hand, maybe the development of a concept of time is a natural evolutionary process for any social species? For instance, as a collective society, we need a consistent way to measure events if we are to function efficiently. In that regard, time is a pretty useful adaptation.
It is interesting though to consider and to recognize that time is an illusion. I wonder what life would be like if we did not track time?
