My Bullying Experiences | I'm A Survivor

in #life7 years ago

Hey Guys. This video/post is really hard for me to talk about. I have been bullied since the 6th grade. Ever since I get so many comments/ people saying that I'm gay/faggot and ect. I was bullied to the extent to consider going suicide. That was the worst decision that I could have ever made in my life. I just didn't know how life is so precious! I didn't realize how many people I would have hurt.

What People Said To Me:

  • "Are you gay"
  • "Do you like him because he likes you"
  • "Aren't you that gay kid everyone is talking about"
  • "Ewww he's gay"
  • "FAGGOT"
  • "Don't touch me"
  • "Here comes the gay kid"
  • "How are you going to have kids, because last time I check gay parents cant have kids"
  • "Man you have a big foot for a girl"
  • "He's the gayest thing I have ever seen"
  • "Are you a girl"

“Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year”, according to DoSomething.org. I can’t believe that I was one of the victims. I never thought in a million years I would have to go through this, nobody should have to. And the harder thing is when you are being bullied, the people here that are supposed to help you, aren't doing the best job they can at helping the students with the problem. I've been bullied with the same word “gay”. My fellow students have been harassing me for a long time now, but it's more serious than ever. I can't even work in a group project, without people saying those words, or just going class to class. Being bullied at school, is not fun. I do have teachers to go to if i need help, but it's a normal day occurrence. Like, if you were in my shoes right now, and if you walked into school, hearing someone called you a faggot. Wouldn't you want more than just a citation for that person. It's too common. Now if the school system is not going to give more than a citation, then there is not disciplinary actions in place. According to the Georgia Department of Education, it states “Upon confirming that bullying has occurred, the accused student should be charged with bullying and given an age appropriate consequence which shall include, at minimum and without limitation, disciplinary action or counseling as appropriate under the circumstances.” Since this is from the Georgia Department of Education, (My school)  should be following it, right? By 8th grade, we should know right from wrong. And bullying is completely unacceptable according to my teachers and staff. So if it is, why aren't we following the steps and producers placed by the Georgia Department of Education? By not giving anything or just a citation, that's basically saying that what they did is ok, and that the disciplinary actions had very little effect.I want to be able to have a conversation with the whole 8th grade, if the school will not have harsher consequences. Anyways there should be a policy in place for bullies and harassers. Now if we all agree in 8th grade you know from right and wrong. We should not be bullying, because we should be old enough to have common sense and to know that hurting others isn’t going to make you a better person.
