Why put your Validation in other people's hands?
Some folks just care too much about other people's opinion of them. But the fact remains that people are different and will surely have different opinions about us. If you always get to that point where you let other people's opinion of you make or break your day, then you have put your validation in other people's hands.
Why put your validation in other people's hands anyway?Granted, it's natural to be self-conscious and it's normal to want to hear other people's opinion of you, but letting other people's opinion of you define you or determine who you should be is very wrong.
When you put your validation in other people's hands, you loose yourself, you start changing who you are because you want to fit into other people's opinion of you. People who depend on other people's validation end up becoming people pleasers.
We all want to be liked, but changing who you are just be liked means that you are not going to be liked for who you are.
The sad truth is that some people would never like you no matter how hard you try, so why change whom you are for people that would never like you? When you put your validation in other people's hands, you loose out on the opportunity to build healthy and genuine friendship.
In this life, it's of no use to keep up with appearances or try to change any aspect of you to be able to fit into a group. Just be you and the right people would love you and appreciate you for who you are and those that love you for who you are, are the ones you should be friends with.
Life is too short to try to please everyone or to get everyone to like you. Stop putting your validation in other people's hands, love yourself for who you are, put your validation in your own hands, believe in your capabilities and appreciate your weaknesses because no one is perfect afterall.
Feel good about yourself without paying so much attention to what people might think or say and the right people would appreciate you for who you are and always remember that the best and healthy kind of validation is the one you give to yourself!
Thanks for reading!
Very easy to get caught up in this type of behaviour @kweenbrand. Thank you for the reminder to rather look to myself for validation.

thanks for the motivational words! I think as an artist, it's difficult to move away from validation from others, as part of our success comes from how much our art is consumed. but I also think it's important to always work on what you like, rather than focusing on what others will like, bc you attract what you put out, and it's better to attract ppl who genuinely like you and your art, rather than just catering to the masses
You said it all. It's better to attract people who would genuinely like you and your art.
All the best!
Totally agree with you and i would like to add that its totally ok to be little selfish for yourself with balanced approach and without jeopardizing others.
Well said! Balance is key! Thanks for stopping by here. Much appreciated!
