April 20, 2017 Special research centre of the University of Cambridge conducted a study of the current situation on the Finance market, Blockchain and crypto-currencies, the results of which showed that the worldwide recorded from 5.8 to 11.5 million existing Bitcoin wallets.

In 2012, existing cryptocurrency wallets were recorded 5 times less. The total number of Bitcoin wallets, including the "non-working", in 2013 amounted to slightly more than 8 million. However, three years later this figure has increased by 4 times, as of 2016 the number of cryptocell was equal to 35 million.
